Brown Eagle

Was still on leave one week ago. Langkawi aftermaths - busy, busy, busy.

Think I have not gotten back to 'work' mode. Still in 'holiday' mode.

Got off to a bad start in Langkawi - camera died, shoes (two pairs) also died. No photos to show this time. Took many videos though. Will see what I can do with them :)

Found Langkawi (malay for 'brown eagle') very kampong. Enjoyed the pool and beach at Holiday Villa - although the facade and decor of hotel were not impressive, the service exceeded my expectations. Massages were good too! Wished I had more time to R&R at the pool and beach though - did not get a good tan as the weather was not great (cloudy, slight drizzle). The mangrove tour was very good though - guide was knowledgeable and I can feel that he loves the island. The city tour and island hopping was so-so only - guides were no good : / I guess passion for what you do can make a lot of difference.

18 August 2010 - here's the pictures from ST's camera!

Holiday Villa - Private Beach

Batik - I like!

Oriental Village - Cable ride to the top. Fantastic view!

Eagle Square

Mangrove Tour - highly recommended!

It's been so busy. Time to slow down.

It's been such a long time since I blog!
What have I been doing for the last few months?
It's been so busy. Time to slow down.
Langkawi, I hope you are a good place to watch the world go by :) and that I will have many good things to say about you when I am back next week!

What an old school day!

It's an old school day!

Went to a book exchange event at the National Library in the morning - really surprised to see so many people exchanging carts and carts of books! I was a bit amused by the books I picked - thought they reflected me, somehow. One by Danielle Steel and one by Zhang Xiao Xian - authors whose books I read when I was in my younger days in JC and Uni. I have almost forgotten about them until I saw their books lying around! One book about movie ' he's just not that into you' - really wanted to watch it when it was screening but did not (I forgot why!). And another book about the one-minute manager - my usual non-fiction reads these days.

Visited the old school (ex-methodist school) with S in the afternoon - wanted to go for a long time but did not (I wander why?). Our arts and design scene is growing and learning and I think it's really apt and nice to have a place (an old school - remember the hop-scotch on the cement floors, the dark secret corners in the stairways, the link ways linking every block?) that's somehow dedicated to arts and design in Singapore.  It was not really vibrant when we visit today, but maybe it's a place that will come alive during the weekdays and at night? :) Will visit another time to check it out again...

how I wish I can go back to the old school days - visiting the library every week, moving through the blocks to the classroom to the science labs to the canteens, sitting in the foyer waiting for national athem...
